#Final Project_CART 214

In 2020, as solar Energy will be well developed and then be used widely, people won't worry about the energy problem anymore. The solar energy is unlimited and renewable, so more diverse energy-based products will be produced to benifit human beings.

The Situation in 2020 (Created By Processing) : 2020

In 2009, people still rely on the energies deposited in the Earth, such as petroleum, natural gas, coal, etc.,Those energies are limited and will run out sooner or later. The situation limits the way people use or develop energy-based products.

References (what I was inspired by) :

Points and lines are simple but strong elements to create space and networks. I got many relationships in my final project too, which are how the sun connect products run by energy. The products are way far from the sun, but the distance actually is not a problem at all. The sun's energy goes cross the space and works in every corner of the earth. The sun gives the earth life, and definitely also gives everything on the earth life. The sun is the center of all those relationships.

#Porposal for Final Project

In my final project, I want to work with the technology of Photovoltaic cells.

In 2020, I assume that solar photovoltaics will be widely used in the world, especially for residential use. Here is the scenario for the future in my mind:

Solar photovoltaics are best known as a method for generating electric power by using solar cells to convert energy from the sun into electricity.wiki

Solar photovoltaics is not a new technology, but it has been doubling every 2 years, increasing by an average of 48 percent each year since 2002, making it the world’s fastest-growing energy technology. source

Actually, compared to fossil and nuclear energy sources, very little research money has been invested in the development of solar cells. This is why right now photovoltaics are costly to install and people have difficulty to use the technology in darkness.source Whereas the technology’s advantage of pollution-free during use means Solar photovoltaics will never be ignored.

Assignment: Symbols

What I did in this assignment is to describe my daily experience with pictorial symbols. I use typical stuffs to represent what I do everyday. For example, a toothbrush, a cup, and a towel mean cleaning; a brush and a canvas show how I paint.

Simplified lines and figures are inspired by Olympic games pictograms.

Each color (totally 5) shows different mood of each activity. For example, red is getting ready; yellow is being excited; green is calming down, etc.

Representative"/"Interpretive" Self Portrait

The first picture was taken this summer when I travelled to Perce, Gaspe. The photo is "REPRESENTATIVE" because I think everyone can see how I look like with it.

The bottom picture was also taken when I was in the summer's trip (you might figure out from my jacket:)). I would call it a "INTERPRETIVE" photo because that shows my personality in some ways, which is curious, crazy, open-minded, funny...... But usually I just pretent to be serious......, and I don't know why......*^^*

By the way, my name is Jia Tao, and I'm from China, a 3rd year student in Concordia. I am expected to graduate next year...... sad.....really enjoy being in school......I am both in Major Painting and Drawing and Minor CART. I did learn something in the past two years (also suffer pressure #_#)and met some great teachers. Concordia is a great place to learn art. ^^
